About Me
I am a mom to 3 wonderful kids aged 20, 13, and 8. We live in the Greater Kansas City area with our two dogs and cat. I grew up in the Midwest and have spent most of my time here. However, Florida became our second home after living there for 8 years. We love visiting Walt Disney World and the beach as often as we can get away! When I have time I also love to garden, read, make sourdough, and watch the butterflies that visit our home.
My Background
For the last 16+ years I have worked with children from 4-18 years old. I have been an elementary special education teacher, instructional coach, ESL tutor, and private Barton reading tutor both in person and online. I have always preferred small group and 1:1 instruction. I love getting to know the families of my students and supporting learning beyond my classroom by working together on shared literacy goals.
My Expertise
I have a BA in Elementary Education, Special Education, and a reading endorsement through Morningside University in Iowa. I have experience in the Orton-Gillingham method and have taught all 10 levels of the Barton Reading and Writing System.
